Most ready to move on. There were a few tears and a bit of
sniffling.
But when it came down to it, Punta Gorda was prepared to see the
first bricks of hurricane-damaged Charlotte High School get knocked
out during a demolition ceremony Tuesday afternoon.
About 100 people gathered in front of the 80-year-old three-story
structure to pay homage to a building that sheltered generations of
students and memories.
Students, alumni and school officials looked at the beige
building and at the large, yellow heavy machinery parked inches
away.
Before the demolition ceremony began, guest speakers shared
poignant words and feelings about CHS.
